2026 promises to be an exciting year

Next year’s programme promises to be exciting and full: collecting signatures for the initiative on outdoor access, maintaining pressure on major retailers, researching potential new initiatives linked to sustainable food systems, and many other projects. We look forward to continuing this journey with you! To turn our plans for the coming year into reality, we need your support.

December has always had a special feel for us. It is a month that invites us to slow down for a moment, to reflect, to look back at everything the year has brought us, and to imagine what comes next. At Sentience, this moment carries even more meaning: as you know, December is crucial for our fundraising – it is now that the momentum with which we will enter 2026 takes shape.

What awaits us in 2026

Initiative for outdoor access: access to the outdoors for all farm animals

In spring 2026, we plan to launch our new federal popular initiative; driven by a simple demand, yet one capable of generating significant impact: all animals raised for agricultural purposes must be able to go outdoors regularly. This would be a fundamental step towards more animal-friendly farming.

To ensure a strong launch of the signature collection, we are currently looking for people to help us gather signatures. Thanks to you, we are already close to reaching the promised threshold of 100,000 signatures – that’s fantastic!

Maintaining pressure on major retailers

The first phase of email actions is complete… for now. A heartfelt thank you for the 10,927 emails sent! In the coming year, we will continue our work with retailers through solid analyses, discussions that are both constructive and confrontational, and campaigns that highlight the improvements that are both possible and necessary.

Urban initiatives for sustainable food systems

In 2026, Sentience returns to its roots and continues the work on sustainable food systems that began more than ten years ago. Building on the lessons learned from our very first initiatives, we will assess the most effective ways of making urban food systems more sustainable together with local stakeholders, acting where decisions are made every day about what ends up on our plates.

Sustainable development of internal structures

It is in Sentience’s DNA to achieve as much as possible with as few resources as possible, for those who are often forgotten in our society: animals. Next year, we will place a particular focus on automating and simplifying operational tasks, so that our resources can be invested directly in our projects.

As you can see, the programme for the coming year promises to be both exciting and demanding. We very much look forward to what lies ahead with you and are immensely grateful to be able to count on your trust.

Together, we will continue to place animals’ interests at the heart of society in 2026.
